![]() ![]() It's completely outdated for video in 2023 for what it goes for new and gets absolutely trounced in basically every way for competing cameras in that price bracket. That being said the sub $3000 market really isn't where they shine.Īvoid the A7iii unless you get a VERY good used price. You will likely be looking at purchasing another camera withing the next 3 years if you go with an A7III.Ĭanon is all over the place, but when they make something that's good, its really good. It has no 10 bit recording, it's autofocus is dated, it doesn't have a lot of the modern video tools built in, and most of the used bodies out there will have some mileage on them. The A7III is showing its age at this point though. Or the old reliable A7III which I believe you mentioned. If you were looking in Sony you could look at the Zv-e1although I have heard it's a little buggy and is a bit overpriced in my opinion. Sony is kind of the most reliably solid brand out here at the moment although their bodies are generally more expensive (but lenses are cheaper). I like Panasonic and where they are headed they have made some amazing cameras in the past 5 years and only seem to be interested in improving in ways that people in the video space want them to. It kind of depends on what system you want to invest in. Although this camera feels a bit like it compromises in some weird places. RF lenses are expensive, but you can easily adapt to ef lenses and those are plentiful and relatively cheap. I've never used one but the a used canon R6 looks enticing. If you aren't overly concerned with autofocus and just want great image quality and color, a used Panasonic S5 you may even be able to get one in the $1000 range. u/shickey maintains a videography-themed weekly challenge subreddit, so if you're looking for something to shoot head on over to /r/DoCreativeĬamera, NLE, year started, general location Requests for feedback or comments must be posted in the monthly ‘I Made This/Feedback’ threadĪ full copy of the rules can be read here.Use of affiliate links must be disclosed in post.Links posted must relate directly to videography. If you're looking for professional-only discussion, give /r/videoprofessionals a shot! r/videography is a subreddit intended for all skill levels, from beginners all the way through to professionals to come together to discuss the trade.
